In this guide "click" means click with the left mouse button.
The first thing you see when you visit the forum is the top of the front page. Not much to see except four big buttons that you don't want to use.
Most of the page is out of sight and it's where all the catergories and topics are.
Use the scroll bar on the right to see it.
Now you see a list of catergories divided into different sections. Read the catergories and the descriptions under them choose one that suits you (sir).
To open a catergory click on the underlined words in larger letters.
Once again you are at the top of the page and some of the topics will be below the bottom of it. Use the scroll bar to see all of them.
To read a topic that interest you again click on the unserlined words in bolder text.
If you don't see a topic that answers your question or if you want to bring up a new issue, clcik on the new topic button.
Again you are at the top of the page and you can start to read the what people have had to say about the topic. Again use the scroll bar to read all the replies.
If you want to add a reply for any reason click on the Add Reply button. You can also create a new topic if you want to. (The same buttons are at he bottom to).
Knowing where you are can be confusing in a forum, the links at the top of the page tell you where. Click on the underlined words to take straight to that place.
Now you are at the top of the reply form, the New Topic one is exactly the same by the way.
The omly difference is that you don't have to put anything in the subject box if you are posting a reply.
If you want add a "smiley" to your reply or topic click the button next to pictures.
To add your reply/topic click in the white space and type away.
If you want to reread the message you are replying to just scroll down the page and you'll find it.
When you've finished click on Add Reply.
After you have posted your message you will be taken back to the list of topics, you can read your message by clicking the topic you posted it in. If you have made a terrible mistake you can edit it by clicking on the word "Edit" to the left of your message, under your name.
There's plenty more info in the forums, don't be shy, everyone who's used a computer has asked a really dumb question at sometime. It took me ten days to find the shift key (it's the one with arrow pointing up btw!). Just remember these are friendly forums so never abuse another user and don't shout (that's when you write a reply in capital letters). Oh and if someone tries to be helpful, especially if they actually are, thank them!
on the right.
